HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The highly-anticipated sequel of Moana hits theatres on Wednesday and HNN’s Entertainment Reporter Billy V had the chance to catch up with some of the cast members at the world premiere in Koolina.
Moana 2 reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.
After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
Hualalai Chung voices the new character Moni, Moana’s new sidekick, in Moana 2.
Billy V caught up with Hualalai at the world premiere to find out more about his character and talk all things family, culture and representation.

We also caught up with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who returns as Maui, a boisterous demigod of South Pacific legend who predominately serves as a guardian of mankind.
Billy V asked Johnson about how his character Maui has developed from the first film to the sequel, how it feels to be back where it all started, and what he hopes this film does for young people.

Last but not least, Billy V caught up with Moana herself, which is voiced by Auli’i Cravalho.
When you get to interview the big stars on press day, it’s usually the same — You’ve only got a set amount of time, you (the reporter) sits down, you say your name and the station you are affiliated with, and the timer begins.
But when it came to Cravalho, Billy V was not prepared for how the beginning would go.
Tune in to HNN Sunrise Wednesday morning for the full interview.
